John Spinks is a British musician and songwriter best known as the lead guitarist and founding member of the rock band The Outfield. He was born on 28 November 1953 in London, England. Spinks began playing guitar at the age of 12 and formed The Outfield in 1984 with vocalist/bassist Tony Lewis and drummer Alan Jackman. The band released their debut album Play Deep in 1985 and achieved international success with the singles "Your Love" and "All the Love in the World". The Outfield released five studio albums before disbanding in 1998. Spinks continued to write and record music after the band's breakup, releasing two solo albums, John Spinks and The Big Picture, in 2000 and 2002 respectively. He also wrote and produced music for other artists, including the single "I'm Outta Love" by Anastacia. Spinks passed away on June 8, 2014 at the age of 60.
